About

David Horwich is the founder of Horwich Strategic Advisors (HSA). He is a seasoned expert who specializes in maximizing the value of privately held businesses. Drawing on a four-decade career in investment banking and growth consulting, David brings a unique “think like a buyer, not an owner” perspective to every engagement.

Experience

Before founding HSA, David was a Managing Director at GHJ, where he led the Growth Planning and Strategic Advisory practice; before joining GHJ, David was a banker for 23 years, including 13 at Van Kasper & Company, a leading West Coast regional firm before its ultimate sale to Wells Fargo Bank.

Mission & Approach

David’s core mission is to help owners and their trusted advisors unlock true enterprise value by transforming businesses into “deal-ready” assets. Having reviewed well over 5,000 companies, David identifies and eliminates the unseen flaws and financial weaknesses that suppress valuation.

Through a proprietary planning process, David develops a clear, actionable roadmap for owners, helping them:

  • Plan for a Transaction (sell, buy, or raise capital)
  • Increase Cash Flow (strategies to maximize EBITDA and improve performance)
  • Develop a Long-Term Strategic Direction (growth, succession, and corporate finance activities)

David often serves as an advisory board member, guiding companies through complex strategic decisions. He ensures clients receive unbiased guidance, including running a process to find the best-fit investment banking firm.

To de-risk the initial assessment, David offers a low, fixed-price service to answer the critical question: “Can I sell my company for the right price?” and provides solutions to bridge any gaps.

Personal Interests

Outside of work, David enjoys reading, traveling, and is a devoted fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
